Riley Keough “recognizes” that she is a nepo-baby.

The 35-year-old actress, daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley and granddaughter of the late music icon Elvis Presley, admits she is “very aware” of the privilege she may have received as a result of her family connections that facilitated her start in the industry. show business.

She told ELLE UK magazine: “I’m sure being Elvis’s granddaughter made it easier for me to get an agent, have meetings and all that, when I first started.

“I know there’s a lot of nepo-baby stuff going on right now (and) I certainly recognize that aspect of the privilege of coming from where I come from.

“I’m not an idiot. I’m very aware of privilege.”

The ‘Daisy Jones and The Six’ actress also shared the advice her late mother gave her before entering showbiz.

Lisa told Riley: “If you’re going to do this, you have to be very good at what you do, or no one will take you seriously, you won’t get any work, and it will be embarrassing. “

Riley added, “You don’t want to be an embarrassing celebrity. She instilled that very deeply in me and my brother.”

It comes after Riley previously revealed that she was aiming to honor her mother by finishing her memoir ‘From Here To The Great Unknown’ which Lisa Marie was working on at the time of her death in January 2023.

In a behind-the-scenes video of her in a recording booth, Riley said, “My goal is not only to honor my mother, but also to tell a human story in what I know is an extraordinary circumstance.

“I am aware that the recordings my mother left behind are a gift. Very often, all that remains of a loved one is a saved and re-saved voicemail, a short video on a phone, a few of my favorite photos “I take the privilege of these tapes very seriously.”

The memoir covers how Lisa Marie struggled after Elvis’ death, as well as the tragic passing of her son Benjamin Keough in 2020, and Riley hopes it presents her as “a three-dimensional human being.”
