Former Iowa Hawkeyes star opens up about ‘strange’ battle with twin brother

Football is the lifeblood of Iowa City, but from time to time, the Iowa Hawkeye produce some good basketball players.

Iowa recently had twin brothers Keegan and Kris Murray among them, and the pair formed quite a dynamic duo for the Hawkeyes.

Keegan spent two years at Iowa before being selected fourth overall by the Kings of Sacramento in 2022, and Kris resided with the Hawkeyes for three seasons before finally going to the Portland Trail Blazers with the 23rd election the following year.

On Monday night, the two former Iowa forwards will face off as Keegan’s Kings take on Kris’s Trail Blazers.

Keegan was asked about the battle before the game and said playing against his twin is something he’s getting more and more used to.

“I know the first few times it was a little strange, but now it’s just about playing basketball.” Murray saidvia Sean Cunningham of Fox 40. “So it’s exciting every time he comes to town or every time we go to Portland.”

Sacramento and Portland play in the Pacific Division, so the Murray brothers will see each other quite often during the regular season.

Keegan is definitely the better of the two prospects and is averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in his first two games this season. He had 15.2 points and 5.5 rebounds a night last year.

Meanwhile, Kris has recorded 4.3 points per game off the bench through the Blazers’ first three games of the season. He had 6.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per night during his rookie year last season.
