Aitana Bonmati of Barcelona defeats her teammate and achieves her second victory

real Madrid had several nominees for the men’s category Ballon d’Or but it did not see any nomination for the women’s Ballon d’Or 2024. However, the favorites for the award play their football in Spain, for their rival Barcelona.

The women’s Ballon d’Or has been awarded since 2018, and three of the four previous winners were nominated for the 2024 award. One of those previous winners won the award again: Aitana Bonmatí won two consecutive Ballon d’Ors after winning in 2023.

Barcelona midfielder and 2023 winner Aitana Bonmati won her second Ballon d’Or and took the trophy again in Barcelona. It is the fourth consecutive time that the award has stayed in Barcelona, with the Catalan team dominating Spain and Europe during the 2023-24 season. The team also won the award for Best Women’s Club of the Year.

Barcelona won the treble last season, lifting the F League, the Queen’s Cup and the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Bonmati scored six goals and assisted four times in the Champions League, earning her the title of UWCL Player of the Season 23/24.

He finished the club season with 37 goals (19 goals, 18 assists). Bonmati also had success with the Spanish national team, winning the UEFA Women’s Nations League and scoring in a 2–0 victory over France.

Bonmati has worked her way through Barcelona’s women’s youth system, breaking into the first team in 2016 after playing for the Barcelona women’s B team. He has played 270 games for the first team and scored 96 goals. At the age of 26, he has many more years left to continue his success for club and country.
