Two injured in crash in Needham, driver fled before returning

Two people were seriously injured in Needham Monday night after being hit by a driver who fled before returning, police said.

The two people were taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Their conditions were unknown.

The crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Hunnewell Street and West Street, police said in a Facebook post.

The driver, who was not identified, first fled the scene, but then returned, according to the publication.

“The operator has identified himself,” police wrote.

Police had previously asked the public to be on the lookout for the driver’s vehicle.

“Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored Honda sedan or SUV. “The vehicle parts left at the scene are also from a Honda vehicle,” the post said.

The accident is under investigation.
