Shocking moment: A 34-year-old single mother sees her new car completely totaled in an accident just hours after selling her old one for £100.

This is the shocking moment a woman’s new car collided with another vehicle and was completely totaled, just hours after selling her old vehicle.

Adele Gough, 34, a single mother, was running errands and had just left Swindon’s Magic Roundabout when she was hit by a car.

Dashcam footage shows Adele driving along Country Road on the A4289 when a black vehicle suddenly swerved onto her side of the road and crashed into her new car.

The collision destroyed the car and Adele spent the night in hospital with severe bruising to her lower stomach and whiplash to the back of her head.

Adele had bought the MG Motor car less than a month earlier and had only sold her old one that same day.

He did not press charges but lodged an insurance claim which he hopes will cover the cost of his £4,499 car.

Adele, a hotel cleaner based in Great Shefford, North Wessex, said: “It’s just my luck, but I woke up with two cars that morning and went to bed with neither.”

‘At this moment, the car is totally lost.

‘I had sold my old Ford Focus for £100 that morning because I thought I was all set with my nice new car. And now I have to solve this situation.

“I just want to be able to pay my mom back as soon as possible since I bought the car with her credit card and I had just started paying her back.”

Adele remembers the incident clearly, but still has no idea what exactly happened.

She said: “I was driving happily when I saw the car coming towards me out of the corner of my eye.

“I hit the brakes as quickly as I could, but I couldn’t come to a complete stop before the other car hit.

“My airbag went off and hit me in the chest and chin, knocking me out of breath.”

The driver behind her stopped to help while Adele’s partner called the police.

Adele said: “Less than a couple of minutes later, there were police everywhere and they questioned us both before going to the hospital.”

She hopes to receive compensation for her insurance claim in January so she can regain some financial stability before taking her son on his first vacation.

Adele said: ‘The insurance company has been excellent in providing me with a rental car and even sending me flowers.

“However, I had planned to take my son, aged eight, on his first holiday abroad in February, but that is now on hold until I receive compensation.

‘Without solving the financial aspect, I can’t be sure I can afford it.

“I just hope we have news soon so we have enough time to plan and book things.”

Wiltshire Police said: “We responded to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Drove Road shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday.

“Both drivers suffered minor injuries that required hospital treatment.

“A man in his 20s was reported for driving without due care and attention.”
