Not our war: Trump warns against interference in Syrian civil war

President-elect Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States should not interfere in Syria in a post on the social media site Truth Social.

“Syria is a disaster but it is not our friend, AND THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT BE PLAYED. DON’T GET INVOLVED!” Trump said.

He also said rebels in Syria are on the outskirts of Damascus and are preparing for a major move to overthrow Assad.

“Russia, due to heavy losses in Ukraine, cannot stop it. Russians, like Assad, could be driven out of Syria, and that may be the best for them. Russia has never gained anything from its presence in Syria.”
