Vermont border agent murder tied to a series of murders throughout the country

A shooting that left a dead Vermont border patrol agent can be connected to several other murders that cover from Pennsylvania to California.

The border patrol agent of the Swanton sector, David Maland, 44, was killed when the occupants of a car began to shoot him when he stopped them about 20 miles from the border between the United States and Canada on January 20.

The alleged shooters have been identified as Teresa Youngblut, 21, from Washington and Felix Bauckholt, a German citizen who was shot dead in the scene.

Youngblut was injured during the shooting and taken to the hospital. Maland was also taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead. The reasons behind the incident are still clear.

But prosecutors believe that Vermont’s shooting was not an isolated crime, linking Youngblut to a double homicide in Pennsylvania and a fatal stabbing in California.

In November 2024, Youngblut filed a request to marry Maximilian Snyder, a 22 -year data scientist, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

On Friday, Snyder was arrested and accused of killing a owner of Vallejo, California called Curtis Lind, 82, on January 17. He appeared in court on Tuesday.

A criminal complaint filed in Solano County affirms that Lind was stabbed and killed “in order to prevent his testimony in a criminal procedure.” KTVU reported.
