Two people are being taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a truck and a caravan crashed, closing a Waikato road.

It is expected that State Highway 39 will remain closed for some time, according to the police, after two vehicles collided in Isedahaga around 11.20 in the morning on Monday.

Drivers should avoid SH39 if possible and wait for delays, police said.
