Google accepts to pay Italy $ 340 million to resolve a tax evasion investigation

MILAN – Italian prosecutors said Wednesday that they will seek to eliminate fiscal evasion investigation against Google after the technological giant agreed to pay an agreement of 326 million euros ($ 340 million).

Milan prosecutors had opened an investigation against Google for not paying taxes on profits in Italy since 2015-2019. The investigation focused on the income of the sale of advertising, and cited the presence of servers and other infrastructure in Italy.

Google recognized the agreement in the statement, saying that it resolves “a fiscal audit … without litigation.”
