PSU to play welcome football match against UM in Providence Park

Ore de Portland (KPTV) – The football of the State University of Portland has called the Hillsboro stadium its game home away from home during the last seven years. But this season, the Vikings will be closer to the Campus for their greatest rivalry game of the season.

For the first time since 2018, the Vikings will play in Providence Park when PSU is the host of the Montana Grizzlies for Homecoming on November 15.

“We really want to leave the door with a great game, with a great participation of our fans, people from the city of Portland, as well as Montana fans because I think it will be a great proof of concept to move on,” said PSU president Ann Cudd.

Four years after the last caressing of his boots, the former MVP of the MLS and the legend of Portland Timbers, Diego Valeri, is dominating the beautiful retirement game.

CUDD, along with the new Atlético de PSU director Matt Billings, hopes that more games can be played at the Downtown Stadium in the coming years.

“The challenge and the group that has the negative impact with us playing in Hillsboro are our students,” said Billings. “Therefore, being able to come here allows a better access so that our student body goes down and see our athletes and our coaches do.”

The Vikings played for the first time in football in what was then known as Multnomah Stadium in 1949, where the program called It Home from 1967 to 2018.

“I want every game here. It’s great in Hillsboro, but there is a lot of tradition here, “said Bruce Barnum, PSU football coach.” We did it back home, ready, we’ll see where it goes from here. “

This will be the eleventh season of Barnum as a chief coach, and for now, Hillsboro will continue to be the house of the full season of the Vikings.
