American mother who dropped the baby from the Paris window

Paris, France – An 18 -year -old student from the United States who dropped her newborn baby until her death from the window of a hotel in Paris, said French prosecutors on Wednesday.

The newborn was “thrown from the window of the second floor of a hotel in the 20th district” in East Paris on Monday, said a source of prosecution.

The baby received emergency treatment but did not survive.

The police was alerted after a baby wrapped in a cloth, with his still attached umbilical cord, was discovered in front of the hotel, a police source said.

The mother had given birth in a room at the hotel and then threw her son out the window, according to the source.

French officials said they had launched a murder investigation. But the woman could be declared not suitable to be judged now that she has been placed in psychiatric care.

The authorities said the woman was “part of a group of young adults traveling in Europe.”
