Prosecutors raise travel ban, allow Andrew Tate to leave Romania, says Source

Bucharest – The online influence Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan left Romania on a private flight to the United States, a source with knowledge of the matter on Thursday, after prosecutors raised a prohibition of trips related to criminal charges against them.

Andrew Tate, self -described, Andrew Tate has won millions of online fans by promoting an ultra male lifestyle that critics say he denigrates women.

He and his brother are under investigation in Romania about accusations of forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking, minors trafficking, sexual relations with a money laundering. They have denied all bad actions.

The source said that the brothers were heading to Florida and returned at the end of March to comply with the legal obligations related to their criminal case in Romania, which require them to register with the police at regular intervals.

Financial Times reported last week that the members of the administration of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, had pressed to the Romanian authorities to lift travel restrictions to the Tates, former kiling with double US and British citizenship.

An American source familiar with the matter denied that the United States pressed Romania to leave the case against the two, but acknowledged that Washington had pressed Bucharest to give the brothers their passports and allow them to travel.

Romanian prosecutors said that the prohibition of leaving Romania had been raised, without saying what the decision had motivated.

“The request to change the obligation not to leave Romania,” they said. “All other obligations have been maintained, including the requirement to consult with the judicial authorities every time they are called.”

‘Cachete’

A lawyer who represents one of Tate’s alleged victims, an American woman, accused the United States not to protect her by allowing them to enter the country.

“This is a slap to all the victims of the Tate brothers, especially the American victim who is not being protected by his country,” said Dani Pinter, of the National Center for Law of Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE).

Romania’s Foreign Minister Emil Huzeanu denied that he had faced the pressure of the United States, but said the Tates were mentioned during his brief meeting of the hall with Trump’s special envoy Richard Grenelll at the Munich Security Conference at the beginning of this month.

When asked if the United States would make sure that Andrew and Tristan Tate returned to Romania to face his criminal trial, a senior Trump administration official told journalists that “they had no information at this time at all related to the Tate brothers,” but that he continued.

The Tate media team announced Thursday that a Romanian Court had ruled in favor of an appeal of the brothers, who were first arrested in 2022, and raised the seizure of multiple assets.

“This decision restores the property of properties, vehicles, bank accounts and shares of the company to the legitimate owners, Andrew and Tristan Tate and their companies,” they said in a statement, and added that some assets remained under precautionary convulsions.

The Romanian Network to prevent violence against women, which groups 24 non -governmental organizations, asked prosecutors on Thursday to explain why the prohibition of traveling was raised, “so that any type of doubt about the independence and impartiality of the Romanian judicial system dissipates.”

An initial criminal case against Tate and his brother failed in December when one more court of Bucharest decided not to start the trial and returned the archives to the prosecutors, citing failures in the accusation.

A British arrest warrant for the Tates has also been issued and will be extradited after the Romanian trial procedures are completed. The accusations in Great Britain, denied by them, are related to sexual aggression between 2012 and 2015. Reuters
