Fort Lauderdale, Florida (AP) – a prohibition of trips to the influential brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are accused of trafficking in people in Romania, and are directed to the United States, said the authorities.

The brothers are avid supporters of President Donald Trump and have millions of online followers. It was not clear under what conditions the Tates were allowed to leave Romania, or where they were heading in the United States.

Here are some things that you should know about the Tate brothers:

The Tate brothers and two Romanian women were arrested in Bucharest at the end of 2022.

Initially they were formally accused last year. In April, the Bucharest court ruled that a trial could begin but did not establish a date.

In December, a Bucharest court ruled that the case against the Tates and the two Romanian women could not go to trial due to multiple legal and procedural irregularities by prosecutors.

The case has not been closed, and there is also a separate legal case against the brothers in Romania.

Andrew Tate has repeatedly affirmed that prosecutors in Romania have no evidence against them and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him. But they were accused of forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women, among other positions.

What led to the prohibition of traveling to be raised?

Diicot, the Romanian Anti -Ranked Crimes Agency, said in a statement on Thursday that prosecutors approved a “request to modify the obligation that prevent the defendants from abandoning Romania”, but that the judicial control measures remained in place. The agency did not say who had made the request.

Control measures include the “appearing requirement before the judicial authorities every time they are convened,” said the statement.

The agency said the Tates were “warned that violating these obligations deliberately can result in the judicial control being replaced by a stricter deprivation of the measure of freedom.”

His departure occurred after the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emil Hurzeanu, said this month that an American official in the current Trump administration had expressed interest in the legal case of the brothers in Romania at the Munich Security Conference. The minister insisted that he was not equivalent to pressure.

What happens to the case of defamation of Tate Brothers in Florida?

An audience was established on Thursday in West Palm Beach, Florida, in a demand for defamation presented by the Tate brothers against a woman who accused them of imprisoning her in Romania.

The hearing at the Palm Beach County Circuit Court refers to a women’s motion, identified as Jane Doe, looking for an indefinite delay in demand so that procedures in Romania can continue.

The Tates lawyers say there is no reason to delay the defamation case. “The Romanian process is expected to take several more years,” said his lawyer in a judicial presentation.

The Tate brothers filed the demand for defamation in July 2023.
