APPLING, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – North Columbia Elementary School officials announced crews are working to restore a water line that burst Monday morning.

Officials said that after further review of the time needed to repair the issue, the facility’s maintenance team estimated water would be restored later Monday afternoon.

School meals will be available, officials confirmed. Additionally, students and staff will have access to bottled water as needed and portable toilets will be on site. However, we do not expect any disruption to the school day.

This comes just days after another water main break in Columbia County.

On Friday, The city issued a statement saying the warning had been lifted and residents in the affected areas in Grovetown can now use their water normally.

City officials say this also applies to Columbia County Schools students in Grovetown.

School officials notified parents that a water main break left several Columbia County schools temporarily without water on October 24.

Damage from Hurricane Helene in Augusta

School officials said they were notified of a boil water advisory within the city of Grovetown, which affected Grovetown Elementary School, Grovetown Middle School, Cedar Ridge Elementary School and Columbia County Alternative School.

The pause did not occur at any of the campuses and officials are doing everything they can to continue school operations as normally as possible.

Water was restored at 10 am on October 24.

As of Thursday, water fountains were restricted at all four schools. Bottled water was provided to students and staff.

According to officials, school nutrition teams took precautionary measures when preparing the lunches.

Grab-and-go packaged breakfasts will be available and we encourage parents to send their students to school with water bottles. Bottled water will be available at school as needed for students and staff.

At this time, no changes have been made to the normal school schedule and officials will continue to keep parents informed of any updates.
