Patel’s appointment as FBI director sparks mixed reactions over possible release of Epstein list

president-elect donald trumpThe announcement that kash patel would take over as FBI The director was celebrated by some and feared by others.

Patel previously served as Defense Department chief of staff during the first Trump administration. He has since become known for his prediction that if he led the FBI, he would close the Washington, D.C. headquarters and deploy thousands of employees across the country to work as law enforcement officers. The office’s recent reputation for attacking Republican politicians has led some in the party to celebrate a drastic change.

“This is not just another election…. “This will fundamentally change our country as we know it,” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) wrote on X. “Kash Patel is a brilliant mind and one of the few I trust in the DC/political orbit. He helped me with some things with the wargame and will make sure the @FBI is respected again!

“Great choice by @realDonaldTrump. Kash is a patriot and 100% America first,” wrote Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

“President Trump will officially fire Christopher Wray as FBI Director and replace him with Kash Patel. Kash Patel is about to expose and dismantle the entire Deep State and I hope he doesn’t stop! Trump border czar Tom Homan wrote. “This is a great victory for the United States!”

Others celebrated what could be Patel’s first step in revealing who had been involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking crimes. Epstein was found dead in his cell of an apparent suicide before he could be found guilty. Epstein’s victims find themselves in the middle of a lawsuit against the FBI for an alleged cover-up.

Epstein’s case is comparable to that of rapper Sean Combs, who faces similar charges that some have speculated could be in Patel’s sights. It is speculated that a countless group of celebrities are involved.

Others were disappointed with the announcement and disappointed with Patel’s credentials. Among his critics was former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who appeared in CNN Newsroom Saturday night.

“This is a terrible development for the men and women of the FBI and also for the nation that depends on an independent, professional and highly functional Federal Bureau of Investigation. The fact that Kash Patel is deeply unqualified for this job is not even a topic of debate,” McCabe said. “The installation, or appointment, I guess we should say at this point, of Kash Patel as FBI director can only be a plan to disrupt, dismantle, distract the FBI and possibly use it as a tool for the president’s political agenda.”

“It’s very problematic,” Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) said on the same show. “And in his own words, Mr. Patel has made it very, very clear what he believes he will do to the press and to his political opponents. “It is a very dangerous, very, very dangerous path that Trump is putting us on.”

The Atlantic editor Tom Nichols appeared in Ayman On Saturday he also described the appointment as “dangerous.”

“When it comes to the danger to our democracy, Patel is as dangerous as they come, not because he is a true believer in anything, but because – and I would recommend that people take a look at an article we had on him in the Atlantic “He doesn’t believe in anything except serving Donald Trump, except, you know, his own self-interest,” Nichols said. “Because the other thing that says putting Patel in there, it says that the FBI is no longer in the law enforcement business. “It is certainly not in the counterintelligence business, something our enemies will be very happy to hear.”

Patel would replace Christopher Wray, who began his role in 2017. FBI directors have a tradition of serving 10-year terms. Patel would be the office’s ninth director.
