The feds are investigating the jail where Diddy is being held, which lawyers called “horrible”

The federal government is launching an “interagency operation” at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Complex, the jail where Sean “Diddy” combs is carried out, something lawyers previously called “horrible” in a court filing.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons tells PEOPLE in the statement that the agency is carrying out the operation alongside the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General and other law enforcement agencies.

The operation is part of an effort to improve conditions and maintain “a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals housed at MDC Brooklyn,” the office says.

“This operation was pre-planned and there is no active threat,” the Bureau of Prisons says in a statement. “In an effort to maintain the safety of all personnel within the facility and the integrity of this operation, we are unable to provide additional information at this time. We will provide additional information upon completion of the operation.”

In the rejected bail motion, Combs’ attorneys said the facility was “not suitable for pretrial detention” and called conditions “horrible.”

“I think the food is probably the hardest part.” Agnifilo said.

“(Combs) is being treated like any other detainee awaiting trial,” said a source said. “As with all public figures in his position, he was placed on suicide watch upon entering the facility as a precaution.”

If convicted of all charges, Combs could spend the rest of his life in prison.

The interagency operation comes a month after nine Brooklyn MDC inmates were charged after a series of attacks, the Associated Press reported.

The sex crimes accusation against the Bad Boy Records founder centers on what prosecutors have called “crazed” in which he allegedly forced or coerced women to participate in highly orchestrated sexual performances with male sex workers.
