Three teenagers charged after 14-year-old boy seriously injured in alleged unprovoked gang attack in Edinburgh

Three teenagers have been charged after a schoolboy was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an alleged gang attack in Edinburgh.

The 14-year-old boy was attacked by a group of youths in an “unprovoked” attack in Slateford Green at around 8pm on Monday.

The boy was taken to the Royal Children and Young People’s Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police described the group as seven men and three women ranging in age from their teens to late teens.

Following investigations, two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl were arrested and charged with serious assault.

Each of them will be reported to the relevant authorities.

The force is urging anyone with information about the assault to come forward as investigations continue to track down the group.

Detective Inspector Gordon Couper said: “Extensive inquiries are underway to trace everyone involved in this unprovoked attack.

“I would like to reassure the public that we have increased high visibility patrols in the area and this will continue over the coming days as investigations progress.

“I encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak to these officers.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have dash cam or private CCTV footage to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 citing incident 2315 of December 2, 2024.
