A doctor allegedly shot and injured a 38-year-old bricklayer in Kavi Nagar for allegedly “not doing his job well”, senior police officials said on Monday, adding that an FIR was registered in the matter after the suspected doctor allegedly he refused. to compensate the bricklayer, or pay for his medical treatment.

According to police, the incident took place on the afternoon of October 12. Following a complaint lodged by mason Bala Prasada, a resident of Razapur, the police registered an FIR under sections 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 125 (rash or rash) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. negligent acts) at Kavi Nagar police station on October 27 against an “unidentified person”.

“I was working for the last month at the doctor’s house and I also went there on October 12. Around noon, the doctor started yelling at me that he would not pay my salary because the work I did was not to his liking. Then he shot me in the leg with his gun. The doctor’s wife Shashi reached there and soon I fell unconscious. I later found myself in a hospital with a gunshot wound in my leg,” Prasada said in the FIR.

The victim said the doctor promised to pay her. $1,000 per day as compensation and also cover medical expenses.

He said the doctor later dropped him off at his house.

“They, without informing my family, also carried out an operation to destroy evidence… Now I cannot move and I am not in a position to accept jobs. They also did not pay the promised compensation,” he further alleged.

Despite the complainant providing the correct details of the doctor and his address, the police registered the FIR against an unidentified person and the officer refused to reveal the name of the suspected doctor.

“We are investigating the incident and so far no name involved behind the incident has emerged. We are also looking at the nature of the injuries. Investigation into the case is underway,” said Rajesh Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (city).
