YOUNGSTOWN — Rayvon V. Parker, 26, of North Bon Air Avenue on the city’s west side, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty last month to two counts of attempted felonious assault and charges only domestic violence, receiving theft of property, being a delinquent for possession of a firearm and assault for crimes committed against the mother of some of his children.

Prosecutors agreed to dismiss other charges in exchange for Parker pleading guilty. Parker received the sentence that prosecutors and his attorney jointly recommended to Mahoning County Magistrate Court Judge Anthony D’Apolito.

The crimes arose from incidents on January 16 and May 19, 2022, both in Boardman.

On Jan. 16, Boardman police said they responded to an apartment near Mathews Road and Applecrest Court, where the mother of some of Parker’s children told police Parker punched her in the face, kicked her in the stomach several times and dragged her around the apartment. for his hair.

The report states that Parker took the keys to his Jeep and left before police arrived. She said she was 33 weeks pregnant and had pain in her lower abdomen. Police noticed that he had bald patches on the lower part of his scalp due to his hair being pulled out. There were seven young children in the apartment at the time of the incident.

The fetus was unharmed and the woman was admitted to the hospital for observation. She told police that although she feared Parker would come back and hurt her again, she did not want to press charges, according to the report.

The next day police were notified that Parker had returned to the apartment. Officers arrived and ordered Parker to surrender at gunpoint. Police said Parker refused to comply and appeared to be reaching for something near his waist. An officer deployed a stun gun, but officers still had to tackle him to the ground and deploy the stun gun at close range to subdue him.

In the May 2022 incident, Boardman police said Parker broke into the same woman’s apartment on Rockdale Avenue carrying a gun and making demands regarding the children. The report states that when the victim tried to grab the gun from him, it went off toward the ceiling.

A neighbor told police she tried to stop Parker from entering the apartment building, but he pointed the gun at her, according to a report.

After the gunshot, the mother or neighbor attempted to remove the children from the scene and take them outside, according to the report. Parker then got out and fired more shots, then forced the mother and children into his car and drove off before police arrived.
