Michigan high school teacher and parents charged with alleged drug trafficking

MACOMB COUNTY, MI – A Michigan high school teacher and two parents have been indicted in connection with an alleged drug deal that occurred on New Year’s Eve.

Christopher Michael Filiccia, 46, a teacher at Lincoln High School, was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 31, and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a 4-year felony, according to a news release from the County Attorney’s Office. of Macomb.

Deangelo Ramone Daniel, 42, and Racquel Dubose, 35, were also arrested and each face 12 charges, including delivery and manufacturing of a controlled substance, maintaining a drug house, concealing a firearm and various charges of child abuse.

Daniel was also charged with assault, resisting and obstructing a police officer, a 2-year felony.

The three were arrested in separate traffic stops Tuesday after police observed Filiccia and Daniel conduct a brief transaction in Daniel’s truck while it was parked at the 7-Eleven at 12 Mile Road and Schoenherr in Warren.

Both men left the parking lot in their respective vehicles. Police stopped Filiccia during a traffic stop and allegedly found drugs, according to the release.

Daniel tried to flee when officers tried to make a traffic stop, but he was eventually arrested, prosecutors said. Police executed a search warrant at Daniel’s residence, where his children live, and allegedly found drugs and firearms in the home and within reach of the children.

A final traffic stop was made on Dubose, who lives with Daniel and his children, prosecutors said. According to the release, a stolen firearm was allegedly found in his vehicle.

“The charges brought against these individuals are deeply troubling, particularly given their role within the community,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucid. “One has been entrusted with the task of shaping the minds of our young people as a teacher, and the other two are parents. “The impact of their alleged actions fractures trust within our schools, destabilizes families, and casts a shadow on our community’s sense of safety.”

All three defendants were arraigned in Warren’s 37th District Court, where Judge Suzanne Faunce set bail at $200,000 for Daniel, bail at $50,000 for Dubose and personal bail at $5,000 for Filiccia.

A probable cause hearing for the case is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, before Warren District Court Judge Steve Bieda.
