In his film “Black Box Diaries,” based on his best-selling memoirs, Shiori Ito chronicles her decision to go public and file a civil lawsuit against her alleged rapist after police and prosecutors refused to pursue the case.

“Black Box Diaries” is on the Oscar shortlist for Best Documentary Feature and will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime on Tuesday.
