Woman ends up getting 16 stitches after husband bites her lips during argument

A woman in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, ended up receiving 16 stitches after an argument with her husband turned bloody and the man allegedly bit her lips. The woman began bleeding profusely and had to undergo 16 stitches at the district hospital, police said Friday.

The woman was unable to verbally narrate her ordeal to the police and had to write the entire incident on paper. She filed a harassment complaint against her husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law, according to a PTI report.

In her complaint, the woman, a resident of Nagla Bhuchan, alleged that while she was working at home on Friday night, her husband Vishnu came home and started arguing without any reason, said Magoora police station house officer Mohit Tomar. When the victim asked him to calm down, he allegedly began hitting her.

The woman further alleged that her husband suddenly bit her lips leaving her bleeding profusely. The woman’s sister, who was present at the home, tried to intervene and the man allegedly hit her as well, according to the report.

The woman went to her mother-in-law and brother-in-law to complain about her husband’s behavior, but they also allegedly abused and beat her.

Upon hearing about the incident, the woman’s father took her to the police station and lodged a complaint against her husband, Vishnu, mother-in-law and brother-in-law, police said, adding that she was given 16 stitches on her lips. .

The couple reportedly quarreled over some domestic issues, according to the SHO.

The three accused have been missing from the house since the incident, the SHO said, adding that raids are being carried out to arrest them.

In a similar incident in December 2023, a man in Delhi injured his wife by biting her nose over dowry demands. An FIR was lodged against six members of the husband’s family.

The victim, Ajmi, then 22, alleged that her in-laws beat her and that her husband Nazim injured her by biting her nose.
