Violent criminal supposedly evicted from the Osoyoos Elks building after residents cry for help – Oliver/Osoyoos News

A violent sexual offender supposedly received a warning of eviction of Osoyos Elks Golden Villa, according to residents who say they have been “terrified” by man for years.

More than a dozen older people living in the retirement house have written letters to BC residential, residential possession, housing of BC and Elks Canada asking that man be retired from property, saying that they feel “terrified” of their behavior “intimidating.”

Brian Keith Solberg, 73, is a sexual offender known as a high risk of recidivism for Canada’s correctional service.

In 2018, Vancouver Police issued a public warning On the presence of Solberg in the community, he added that it represented “a risk of significant damage to the safety of adolescent women and adults, including strange and acquaintances.”

The many residents claim that Solberg has been growling, making direct and indirect threats, shouting and swearing. Some women claim that their cars have been destroyed after interactions with Solberg, resulting in expensive damage.

In addition, residents claim, on numerous occasions he has physically prevented from entering their vehicles when blocking them.

A resident woman told Castanet that the two years she has lived in the Golden town of Elks “has been a nightmare.” Solberg supposedly told the woman: “You are the following,” when they cross with her.

Now, he said he receives tremors when he is in the presence of Solberg and tries to remain hidden in his room.

Another woman said she has had multiple panic attacks that require medical treatment since she interacted with the man. She said he told her that “he has to leave.”

In addition, Solberg has supposedly dropped gifts at the door of a woman, then asking them at a time of anger.

Many of the residents said they approached the local RMCP on their meetings, and did not have the impression that it would be done a lot.

“We continue to review each call from Elks Golden Villa, however, we will not be able to provide more information while we analyze each matter,” said Sergeant RCMP. Jason Bayda in an email.

The operators of the retirement house took action in recent days.

In a letter sent to the tenants on Friday, January 24, the Society of Citizens of the Seniors Elks said that he installed video cameras around the building “due to the recent vandalism of tenants’ vehicles, smoking on the property, as well as altercations between tenants “

The letter also warns “to swear or shout” other residents in common areas.

According to the understanding of multiple residents who spoke with Castanet, eviction procedures have begun against Solberg.

Osoyos Elks Seniors Citizens Society, which operates the golden town, refused to confirm or comment.
