The judge stops Trump’s plan to freeze federal subsidies and loans in the midst of a legal challenge

A federal judge in Rhode Island has made a temporary restriction order in the planned freezing of the Trump administration in federal funds and subsidies, after a coalition of state -owned prosecutors sued to block the decision of the White House.

Under the new orderThe disbursement of federal funds to states must continue while the case proceeds. The judge said that the states would probably suffer irreparable damage if funds were cut.

“The defendants will not stop, freeze, prevent, block, cancel or terminate the fulfillment of the accused with awards and obligations to provide federal financial assistance to the States, and the defendants will not prevent the access of the states from These awards and obligations, “Chief Judge John J. McConnell, Jr. wrote in the order.

The judge also ruled that the withdrawal of the Memo of the Office of Administration and Budget of the White House that announced that the freezing will not change the jurisdiction or decision of the court in the case. It also prohibits the White House again put the note.

“The evidence shows that the alleged termination of the OMB Directive was alone in the name and could have been issued simply to defeat the jurisdiction of the courts. The substantive effect of the directive continues,” reads the order.

The restriction order comes into effect immediately and will remain in force indefinitely, until the court orders otherwise. The judge has ordered the state plaintiffs to submit evidence to support their request for a preliminary judicial order to a future hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.
