Jonathan Quick gains praise after the long -awaited Victoria No. 400: Takeways Rangers

New York – Jonathan Quick had to wait a month between victories No. 399 and 400, and made sure to obtain the milestone on Sunday. Fast surpassed Adin Hill from Los Vegas Golden Knights, whom he had supported in 2023 on his way to his third Stanley Cup of his career, making 34 salvages in a 4-2 victory for the New York Rangers.

The teammates quickly harassed in the final horn, and the public speech announcer told fans about the achievement of speakers. Fast is the 15th goalkeeper to reach the milestone and the first American.

“It means that it has really been good for a long time,” said coach Peter Laviolette after the game. “If you look at him daily, it is not difficult to find out why he has reached that number. It is your work ethics, it is the teammate we see daily. “

“Simply grateful,” said Quick.

Vegas controlled expected goals (72.7 percent to five against five, for a trick of natural statistics), but Quick saved 1.34 goals more than expected, walking to his teammates of the Rangers while he was in the second half of a High part. On the other side of the ice, Hill let four goals in, despite the fact that the Rangers generated only 2.19 expected objectives in all situations.

The victory was more than a moment to feel good for fast. It was a step for the Rangers by returning to the image of the playoffs. They made ground in the islanders and the blue jackets, which are higher in the classification but lost on Sunday. New York also jumped Montreal with the victory.

Here are the conclusions of the game.

Golden Knights Happy for the former teammate despite the loss

Quick was not with Vegas for a long time. He reached the team on the deadline, then played only 10 regular season games. It did not appear in a postseason contest with the club, although it backed down the hill after Laurent Brossoit fell with an injury.

His lack of game time did not change how wanted it was in the Golden Knights. Zach Whitecloud said he was “incredibly happy for the guy”, even if Win No. 400 reached the expense of Las Vegas.

“If you ask many people who have shared a wardrobe with Quickie, you will hear the same thing: first a good person and good teammate, and then obviously the legend that is (on the ice)”, Whitecloud said. “It was incredibly valuable for our team at that time and brought a sense of leadership in our goalkeeper department that I think was valuable, not only for that department but only for all in general.”

Whitecloud said fast is valuable wherever I go. Now the rangers are the beneficiaries. Laviolette got excited about how quickly you help young players, including Matt Repe, who lives with the goalkeeper.

Las Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy met quickly after the game.

“He played games and helped us win, but he was more for the other goalkeepers in the playoffs: Brossoit, then Hill,” said Cassidy. “I think it had a great effect on calming them. … that tells you what kind of boy is there. “

Cassidy was not sure if Quick would continue playing after the Stanley 2023 Cup, but he is glad to see what he has done. Quick is from Connecticut, so he is close to his family and his hometown as part of the Rangers.

“It worked very well for him,” Cassidy said. “We certainly pleased us to have it.”

The appreciation is mutual. Quick has a Golden Knights logo tattooed next to the Stanley Cup on his side.

Both mills play big in the third fort

The rangers are still more than a JT Miller trade far from fixing their list. The Golden Knights were overcome the first two periods, but they fought to finish, allowing the Rangers to stay. General Manager Chris Dury will probably need more updates forward in the exchange deadline if New York is going to reach the playoffs, much less being a true contender.

Even so, the third period of Sunday showed why the Rangers will not be easy to play with Miller in the Redile. The goal can keep them in the games, as Quick did against Vegas, and New York has enough high -end talent to collect hockey quality sections. The Rangers surpassed the Golden Knights in the third period and took advantage of the two power plays. They scored three unanswered goals in the period, which Laviolette called a great answer to close the game.

“We know the position in which we are and we know that each point is important,” said K’andre Miller. “Everyone simply pulled the rope a little harder tonight.”

Miller, K’andre, no JT, scored the winning goal of the game. Vegas could not get the album from the defensive zone in the middle of the third, and Artemi Panarin kept him on the blue line. That led to a time later. Mika Zibanejad got the album behind the network and fed Miller in the confrontation circle. The defender released an album beyond Hill and fell to a knee to celebrate. Laviolette trusted the defense throughout the night, playing with a team of 21:55.

New York hardened defensively at the other extreme of the ice, keeping the Golden Knights only seven shots in the third.

“We couldn’t generate,” Cassidy said. “A couple of looks here and there, but not enough to tie the game.”

JT Miller, playing in his second game from Friday’s box office success, received a couple of assists in the goals of power game in the third period, and Laviolette said he helped drag the rangers to the game as he advanced. K’andre Miller praised JT for the way he ensures that everyone is on the same page, since he adapts to his new club.

“He was a great teacher,” said K’andre Miller. “He has not been here for so long, but only his communication in the ice, out of ice and (he) is only doing everything possible to become familiar with the boys as soon as possible.”

The Rangers and Golden Knights were a 3 by 3 combined in the power game. Jack Eichel, who scored both goals from Las Vegas, made New York pay for a trip by Ryan Lindgren at the end of the first. The Golden Knights won the opening confrontation and controlled the entire power game, which also included Shea Theodore reaching a post. Eichel finally scored, entering the slot and hitting quickly.

Fortunately for the Rangers, that was the last power play they allowed. Will Cuylle was sent to the box to fight Nicolas Haya after a monster blow in Alex Pietrangelo, but there were compensatory sanctions in which none of the teams obtained an advantage of a man.

New York capitalized the two opportunities of the third period. Zibanejad had a great change in the first power game, managing to maintain an attempt to clean Eichel in the offensive zone. Shortly after, Jt Miller put an album on the network that slipped into Hill, who had trouble freezing the album several times in the course of the game. Zibanejad crashed the fold and put the album on the line to tie the game. The center was playing in its 900 game and kept the goal album as a souvenir.

The power game came for ice again. Chris Kreider drew a hook that led to the network, and brilliant passes established a goal. Jt Miller found Zibanejad with a cross pass, and Zibanejad fed Panarin. The end beat the hill with Kreider’s projection. He raised his arms over his head in celebration.

Other notes

• Adam Edström (injury at the bottom of the body) was out for his first lost game of the season. Laviolette said the team is evaluating it. Jimmy Vesey got into place, playing his first game since January 11, coincidentally the last game of the Rangers against the Golden Knights.

• Adam Fox followed a couple of games minus 3 with one productive day against Vegas. He found Alexis LaFrenière with an elegant pass in the transition to establish the first goal of the Rangers.

• Rempe played a maximum of season 10:08. Laviolette played it during the third period, and Rempe rewarded him by drawing an interference penalty ahead of Zibanejad’s goal.

• Zibanejad led all the Rangers forward with 21:03 of ice time, its largest since December 2. He is playing in the wing with Jt Miller in the center.

“I thought it was good yesterday, I thought it was better today,” said Zibanejad, who said that the Rangers have not yet practiced since Miller’s arrival. “So far, so good.”
