The shooting in Etobicoke’s apartment leaves the dead man, another seriously injured

The Toronto Police provides an update on a double shooting in an apartment building in Etobicoke that left the dead man and another with serious injuries.

A man is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting in an apartment building in Etobicoke on Tuesday.

Toronto police said they received a call for a shooting at 7 Capri RoadIn the East Mall and Rathburn Road area, just before 5:30 pm

When the officers arrived, they found two male victims, possibly in their adolescence or early 20, who suffered gunshot wounds in the building.

Duty insp. Phillip Sinclair said the officers began measures to save lives to the victims until the paramedics arrived.

The victims were transferred to a trauma center, one in critical condition and the other with serious and possibly mortal injuries, Toronto paramedics said to CTV News Toronto.

Later, the police said a victim died of his wounds. The homicide unit is now investigating.

“At this time, we understand that this is a very worrying incident for the residents of the building, those affected and the rest of the community in the area,” said Sinclair.

“We want to guarantee the public at this time that we are establishing all the necessary resources to help identify those responsible for resolving this homicide.”

Sinclair told journalists in the scene that the shooting involved several floors.

When asked if there was an altercation that led to the incident, the inspector said: “I cannot say if there was a fight or not, but everything has been investigated to discover what led to this incident and what happened.”

Sinclair would not say if the victims resided in the building.

Meanwhile, the officers were looking for two suspects with masks who fled the scene. Police have not provided more descriptions.

“The last information we have is that they left the building, but we don’t have any travel address at this time,” Sinclair said.

Police are asking anyone with information to communicate with homicide investigators to 416-807-7400 or crime crimes anonymously.
