MN GOP announces retirement requests against members of the DFL house as a boycott continues

Republican leaders announced on Tuesday retirement requests for each member of the House of Representatives such as the Democrats boycott the Minnesota Capitol for the third consecutive week.

According to Republicans, a retirement process is officially underway, saying that they are collecting signatures throughout the state as the Chamber Democrats collect wages despite not presenting themselves to work. They are working to collect 25 signatures per seat.

The Republican party says they anticipate presenting requests for next Monday. The Supreme Court would need to decide if there are reasons for a retirement, then thousands of signatures would be needed.

The Republican party says they want to reach business, while the Democrats say they will not appear until an agreement for power exchange is in force.

A special choice must still be taken to decide the balance of power.

Last month, the Supreme Court of Minnesota stood on the side of the DFL, saying that 68 members are needed to do official business. Currently, there are only 67 Republican members, so the camera remains paralyzed.

“People who do not appear at work, take a super secret oath session two days before they are not helping with the confidence and the ability to negotiate in good faith in the future,” said Lisa Demuth representative (R-Cold Spring) .

“Failure is not an option. Then, we will continue to meet until we have an agreement, and we can get in motion and my hope is to happen this week, ”said representative Melissa Hortman (DFL-champlin).

Another house session is scheduled for 3:30 pm
