The MIC deputy director says that proposed guidelines can affect the country’s unit

Petaling Jaya: Datuk Seri M. Saravanan has questioned the guidelines for Muslims attending non -Muslim events proposed by the minister in the department of the prime minister (religious matters) Datuk dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

“Does the minister say that every time a non -Muslim dies, the Muslim friend must obtain the approval of the authorities before attending the funeral and is supposed to ask for Jakim’s permission before allowing the Muslim to present his last respect? ” The Vice President of MIC asked in a statement on Thursday (February 6).

He also questioned if Jakim’s approval was needed if a Muslim was invited to attend a non -Muslim wedding.

He said that the new proposed guidelines interrupt the unity of the Malays.

“The prime minister must intervene and all communities of different races must be invited to discuss guidelines before making a decision,” he said.

Meanwhile, the deputy of Klang V. Ganabatirau said the guidelines could affect the unit in the country.

The deputy of Bangi Syahredzan Johan also expressed his concerns about the new proposed guidelines.

He said that a group of parliamentarians planned to meet with Na’im to discuss the proposed guidelines.
