The Woodbury County Compensation Board recommends salary increases for elected officials

Sioux City (Ktiv) – The Woodbury County Compensation Board held its annual meeting to recommend potential salary increases for elected county officials Thursday night.

The six -members board analyzed the salaries that Woodbury County elected officials are receiving and compared them with other counties with similar population sizes.

On Thursday night, the Board voted to make the following salary increase recommendations.

  • Sheriff Chad Sheehan: 5% increase
  • County Treasurer, Tina Bertrand: 4% increase
  • All members of the Supervisors Board: 4% collection
  • County Auditor, Personal Michelle: 4% increase with a $ 5,000 stipend
  • James Loomis County Prosecutor: 8.5% increase

In previous years, Iowa’s state law required the counties to have a compensation board, but that changed in May 2024.

“The legislature changed the law last year. And made the county compensation joints make optional. The County Supervisor could decide whether to have a compensation committee and Woodbury County in 2024 decided to continue using a County Compensation Committee, ”said Robert Stewart, president of the Woodbury County Compensation Board.

The percentages are only recommendations.

These recommendations will now go to the Woodbury County Supervisors Board, where supervisors will decide whether they will adopt the recommendations.
