A44 Begbroke: long -standing crossing for a ‘dangerous’ road

The Begbroke parish council said it was “absolutely excited” with the news, which follows a consultation in 2023.

Financing for the scheme was secured almost two years ago from the Oxfordshire County Council, but the works were delayed due to supplier and design problems.

The Green Councilor Ian Middleton, who represents Kidlington South in the County Council, said: “This project has been pressed by the villagers for many years, including the signing of a request in 2021 that was happy to support.”

“Therefore, it is extremely gratifying to see the work now on the way to provide this vital crossing point in a dangerous section of the A44”.

He said there had been a “number of false beginnings and frustrating delays in recent years.”

The Oxfordshire County Council has been contacted to comment.
