News from Finanznachrichten

Washington (DPA -AFX) – San Diego County Health officials announced that three non -vaccinated teenagers have succumbed to death due to the flu. In particular, one suffered from underlying medical conditions.

A statement published by the department together with the Human Services Agency added that a 15 -year -old boy died on December 31, a 17 -year -old girl died on January 5 and a 14 -year -old girl died on January 22.

“These recent flu deaths among our young people are tragic and worrying as we go to what historically is the peak of the flu season,” said Dr. Ankita Kadakia, an interim public health officer of the County.

As of February 1, the State has witnessed ten pediatric deaths due to the flu, according to the respiratory virus report of the California Public Health Department. After this, the department has intensified its efforts to spread awareness about vaccination, since it estimates that 80 percent of people between the ages of 5 and 17 are not updated with vaccines.

“This has been a particularly long and difficult flu season compared to recent years and is not over,” Kadakia urged. “I promote the flu vaccine, it’s not too late.”

Last month, the health services of the Wisconsin Health Department have confirmed the death of a influenza child, which makes it the first death of pediatric flu of the state of the ongoing flu season.
