Senator Angus King speaks against the RFK Jr. nomination

Washington, DC (Wabi) – The Senate could hold a final vote as soon as Thursday in the controversial selection of President Trump for the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cleared a procedural vote in the Senate on Wednesday that fell along the lines of the party, removing confirmation.

The Republican Senator of Maine, Susan Collins, announced earlier this week that he would vote to confirm RFK Jr.

Meanwhile, Angus King, an independent, took the Senate floor on Wednesday afternoon to speak against the nomination, calling Kennedy “a danger.”

“If this were a secret vote, this man would not get 20 votes. Everyone in this body knows that it is not qualified. Everyone in this body knows that it does not have any business near this position. But here we are. Let’s vote. Unfortunately, it will probably be online of the game line, ”said Senator King.

Tulsi Gabbard, who, as RFK Jr. was once a Democrat, was confirmed to Trump’s cabinet on Wednesday.

The former Hawaii congressman will serve as the Director of National Intelligence.

Collins voted in favor of Gabbard. King was a no.
