The Italian was previously eliminated from any failure or irregularity after the two positive tests that showed the steroid clostebol forbidden in their system in March 2024.

He was inadvertently contaminated by his physiotherapist that treated a cut in his hand with a spray bought on the counter containing the substance.

However, Wada appealed the decision of the International Tennis Integrity Agency and planned to take the case to the Arbitration Court for Sports with a date established in April.

If the appeal of the WADA succeeded, Sinner could have been slapped with a long prohibition, possibly up to two years.

But now the three -time Grand Slam champion has accepted the prohibition of three months after reaching an agreement with Wada.

Wada accepts that Sinner “did not intend to cheat” and that the drug “did not provide any benefit to improve performance.”

He also set the fault of “negligence” to the members of his team, who were immediately fired when the news came to light last year.

Wada said: “However, under the code and by virtue of CAS’s precedent, an athlete has the responsibility for the negligence of the entourage.

“According to the single set of facts in this case, a three -month suspension is considered as an appropriate result.”

Sinner issued his own statement through his lawyers who said: “This case had been hanging from me for almost a year and the process still had a lot of time to run with a decision perhaps only at the end of the year.

“I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team and I realize that the strict Wada rules are an important protection for the sport I love.

“On that basis, I have accepted Wada’s offer to solve these procedures based on a three -month sanction.”

The terms of the ban, which began on February 9, means that the sinner cannot participate in the “official training activity” until April 13.

It will miss the prestigious Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami, is the champion reigning in Miami, and most of the events of the clay court prior to France’s open.

However, crucial, Sinner is eligible to return to tennis at the Italy Open in Rome, with its local tournament from May 7.

Then you can play in the next Grand Slam of the year in Roland Garros when the France Open begins on May 25.

Sinner got his first great important in the Australian Open in January 2024, added the US Open in September and then defended its Melbourne crown last month to ensure its third Grand Slam, and continue its winning streak on hard court.
