A couple said they were terrified after seeing two cars go up flames in front of their home. Graham Roberts, 59, and his partner Lindsay Horne, 57, live in Claremont way in Taller benchington.

The couple was awakened by an explosion in the early hours of yesterday night and was horrified to see a Volvo car parked in flames in front of their home. The flames quickly spread to a BMW in front of her and the wooden fence next to her.

They captured photos and videos of the incident. At one stage, Lindsay feared they had to leave their home while the fire continued to spread.

Fire Service and Rescue of Merseyside Confirmed yesterday that their teams used two airplanes to turn off the fire And he left the scene at 3 in the morning. Firefighters were represented with water with the water to the vehicles, which were parked next to the road.

Graham told the Echo: “We lived in the house where it happened. They woke us around 1.45 am by a blow and there was an orange glow behind the blinds.

“We hurried to the window, open the blinds and saw a volvo with its front in flames. The fire spread towards the BMW in front of him and the fence.

“My friend called the Fire Brigade. Lindsay’s car was parked on the road in front of the car, so I ran to move it. After returning, the fire had spread to the BMW and the fence. There were three or four more bangs.

Lindsay added: “He became really scary. I was thinking we would have to evacuate our house because it was extending quickly. There are many trees and bushes around and everything was starting to get fire.

“I was really getting hysterical. Our dogs were scaring and we were looking to put on the head and evacuate our back. We thought it would be really serious.”

Graham and Lindsay said the cars belonged to their neighbors and expressed their sympathies towards them. They also believe that it was probably an electrical failure that caused the fire, but this has not been confirmed. They also praised fire services, which were in the scene in a matter of minutes and left the scene about an hour later with the extinguished fire.

Graham added: “I have seen people saying that the fire began with the BMW and extended to the Volvo. I know that it is not well because I saw it happen. Others say it was an accident, but it was not. They were two parked cars that belonged to people who lived on the road. “

The Firefighters and Rescue Service of Mersyside said that its crews were alerted to an incident that involved two cars just before the 2 am and two firefighters arrived at the scene minutes later. Upon arrival, the teams found the cars involved in a fire, which had also spread to a nearby fence.

A spokesman for the Fire Service and Rescue of Merseyside said: “The Fire Service and Rescue of Merseyside attended an incident in Claremont Way, Higher Babington, in the early hours of February 15.

“The teams were alerted at 1.49 am and two firefighters were on stage 1.57 am before leaving the scene at 3.03 am.”
