Five girls accused in a brutal assault near Union Station

Washington, DC – are six minors in relation to a brutal assault near the Union station that was recorded on video and circulated on social networks, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The police realized the attack on February 19 and determined that multiple minors approached a female victim outside Union Station, hitting it and kicking it. One of the suspects recorded the incident and encouraged others to continue the assault. When the spectators tried to intervene, they were also attacked. None of the victims suffered serious injuries.

On February 21, the detectives arrested a 14 -year -old girl, a 12 -year -old girl and an 11 -year -old girl, all of the Northeast of DC, as well as a 13 -year -old girl from the northwest DC. Each one was accused of assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbances.

Two additional suspects, a 13 -year -old girl and an 11 -year -old girl, were arrested on February 20 and faced assault charges with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy for disturbances, simple assault and disorderly behavior.

Researchers believe that the attack may have been motivated by hatred or bias, which leads to a greater assault position with a dangerous weapon (improvement of hate crime) for the six suspects.

The authorities are working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if the group is connected to similar attacks in surrounding jurisdictions.
