Speaking about the incident, the MP described the situation as intolerable while expressing fear that the numbers could increase.

“We have received shocking reports indicating that more than 20 fishermen have been brutally killed in the area of Todonyang of Lake Turkana, supposedly by the Dassanech community of Ethiopia. Real numbers can be even higher. The situation is completely intolerable, and responders must act without delay to ensure the safety of our people. This massacre is happening on the floor of Kenya, where armed Ethiopian militias, specifically the Dassanech, operate with impunity, ”said the MP.

The tensions remain high along the border with Todyang (a volatile area near the border of Kenya-Etiopia along the Lake Turkana) with ongoing confrontations between the fishermen of Turkana and the members of the Dassanech community of Ethiopia.
