A British man found dead with his wife at his home in the rural area of France probably killed her during a failed staging robbery, the police believe.

Andrew Searle and his wife Dawn were found in the village of Les Pesquies, near Toulouse. Mrs. Searle was found on February 6, lay dead in her garden with scattered jewels around her.

Mr. Searle was found dead inside the house.

Initially, the police believed that Mrs. Searle had tried to flee an attacker and was beaten until death.

However, a researcher has played this theory, saying that the neighbors would have heard shouts if this were true. “What is very likely that the victim was killed inside the house, with doors and windows closed on a winter night, and then his body threw the garden,” a researcher told The Sunday Post.

They said the deaths were probably a “staging theft that went wrong.”

Nicolas Rigot-Muller, Rodez’s prosecutor leading the investigation, said it was probably “a marriage crime followed by suicide.”

He said that if the couple had been attacked by a stranger, they would probably have shouted, alerting their neighbors.

He affirmed that Searle could have hoped to explain the crime to the police organizing a staging robbery before changing their minds and removing their lives.

No arrests have been made in relation to the couple’s deaths.
