Five seriously injured in the frontal collision in R538 outside the White River

Five people suffered serious injuries when their Toyota sedan crashed head -on with a truck at the R538 near Nsubeni Hill on the outskirts of White River on February 24.

According to eyewitnesses, the sedan was traveling in the direction of Hozyview while the truck led to White River. It is reported that the sedan was trying to advance or deviate from a bump when the driver lost control and collided with the front truck. The vehicle rolled before stopping at the edge of a cliff.

Traffic in both directions was interrupted for more than three hours, but since then the road has been clear.

One of the passengers in the Toyota was thrown through a window and a life jaw was used to recover the driver before he was urgently taken to the hospital. The truck driver and the occupants only suffered minor injuries that were treated on the scene.

The spokesman for the Department of Security, Security and Link, Moeti Mmusi, asked motorists to lead with caution in this path after the accident this morning. He also wanted a rapid recovery for those who were injured, and said an investigation was launched to find the cause of the accident.
