Jackson Paul, 35, jailed for six years

A warning that this story contains information that some readers can find distressing.

The family of an onchan man who died after falling from the hood of a moving car, for example, any punishment that is delivered to the driver is “insignificant” compared to the “prayer they live.”

Jordan Thomas suffered important head injuries in an incident in Harbor Road on February 25 of last year.

The 29 -year -old had risen at the head of the BMW of Jackson Joseph Paul while trying to pass around 7.45 pm

He proceeded to damage the windshield wiper before hitting the windshield of the vehicle.

The video images, filmed by the front seat passenger, showed Paul, 35 years old, initially reversing before driving forward with Mr. Thomas on the hood at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour.

He fell back on the road when Paul later stopped abruptly.

Paul, from Palace Road, had denied having caused death for driving dangerous but it was condemned after a trial which concluded on February 14.

‘Numb’

In Douglas Courthouse today (February 24) An impact statement of the victim, written by Mr. Thomas’s mother, was read before the court.

When describing his son as having a “massive heart” and “huge energy,” he said that the pain caused by his death had “demolished an entire family.”

Referring to the trial in which Paul was convicted, he added: “Our judgment is every day for the rest of our lives. The joy that the (Jordan) brought it hasn’t been. “

“How do you know how you are too numb to feel something?” – Savina Thomas (mother)

‘Tragedy’

Paul’s lawyer told the court that his client had found himself in a “terrifying situation” at the night in question, adding that it would have been a “very difficult set of circumstances for any motorist.”

He said that the decisions that the defendant had taken in the “open and closing of an eye” that added that Paul was a “good person” who had not proposed any intention to cause harm.

Referring to Paul’s decision to drive forward for five seconds, which was stated that he had not been intentional, he added: “He made mistakes and those mistakes have ended in tragedy.”

“The sad reality is that this is a tragedy for all.” Steve Wood (Lawyer)

‘Deeply annoying’

Deemster Graeme Cook described Paul’s initial decision to reverse his vehicle as “reasonable”, but said he had made a “deliberate decision” to ignore the road rules and drive forward.

This, while Thomas was still in the hood, said he showed a contempt for the danger that represents others, adding: “This was a more obvious case of dangerous driving.”

Deemster Cook described Mr. Thomas’s behavior at night as “unusual” and something that had “contributed significantly” to his death.

“If I had not climbed to the hood, the tragedy would not have occurred. It is something that I find deeply annoying, “added the Deemster saying that a man had lost his life and another was going to ‘lose his years’.

Pablo imprisoned for six years, said he had completed a ‘highly dangerous maneuver’ and added: “No prayer that I approve can value the life of Jordan Thomas.

“Any prayer, nor the sympathy that the Court expresses to its family, can decrease its deep loss or anguish.”

Paul has also been disqualified from driving for eight years.
