Not for us at all: the Superior Court rejects the request for protection of Hindus in Bangladesh

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a statement that seeks instructions to the government to take immediate and decisive measures to stop the current Violence and persecution of Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh.

A bank led by the president of the Supreme Court, Sanjiv Khanna, dismissed the petition, questioning how the court could comment on the internal affairs of another country. The bank commented that it would be “so strange” that the court intervenes in such matters.

The petition also sought an extension of the deadline under the Citizenship Law (amendment), 2019, to allow Hindus who fled Bangladesh due to recent hostilities to request Indian citizenship.

In addition, he requested instructions from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Interior (MHA) to provide help and assistance to Hindu minorities in Bangladesh through the Indian high commission parked there.

Hindu minorities in Bangladesh They have faced violence and discrimination since the former prime minister resigned and fled to India after a massive student protest.

Although the interim government, led by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, promised to restore peace and guarantee the safety of minorities, violence has allegedly continued to cease as Bangladesh authorities claim that the reports of attacks on minorities They are “exaggerated.”

The problem has also tensioned relations between New Delhi and Dhaka, with India raising the matter several times and urging action.
