Why 2025 is the year to test Formula 1 | News, sports, jobs

Personally, I grew up seeing formula 1 (F1) often, since my father was a great admirer and my mother also grew to enjoy races. Today, my mother is a bigger fan than my dad, encouraging Max Verstappen as part of the “Oranje Army” (Verstappen is from the Dutch-Kelga inheritance and its fans are strongly resting on the orange color, the national color for the Dutch).

There are years in which I completely understand the criticism that Formula 1 is, well, formula. There are some seasons in which a particular team is very dominant and can literally accumulate all competition. Sometimes that domain lasts several years. That is part of the reason why there are so many technical changes in sport throughout the years that try to level the playing field again and again.

Since the next lot of rules of rules largely shocking for F1 will not be carried out until 2026, we can look back in the 2024 season to say that 2025 should be a very exciting season to see. If you have never seen a race before, this is the year to try. If you have disappointed yourself for the last boredom in sport, this is the year to return and try again. If you have been a fan of a long time like me, then it is time to wait for the season to live up to everything we hope will do it.

These are my reasons why I am arguing to see F1 this year, without any particular order:

1. In the 2024 season, the seven best pilots at championship points won at least two races. That is the first time in the history of F1, such a feat and there are two main reasons why it happened last year. First, 2024 was the longest F1 season to date with 24 races (2025 will be the same length). That does not guarantee that the different pilots win, but it makes it more likely. In previous seasons, which were mostly 12-20 races. Second and most importantly, competition between teams was the best in years.

In F1, the different manufacturers (which can be considered as equipment) make their cars based on a common set of rules. However, each manufacturer is in charge of literally making all the components that go to the car, and will generally have very different pieces. Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda and Renault are the current motor builders in the sport with Audi that will join in 2026 and Cadillac will join in a few years. Among the various engines and automobile aerodynamics, there has often there has been a private team that was on the head and shoulders above the rest. Last year, however, different teams shone on different tracks and different climatic conditions. That meant that, when entering each race, we really did not know who would get the pole position, much less who would win the race. Everything points to that continuing in 2025.

2. The seven aforementioned drivers return this year with two of them by changing equipment and five novice drivers who join the network. Lewis Hamilton, one of the most successful pilots in the history of F1, is changing equipment for the second time in his career. While he goes to the track this year, his car will wear the iconic red horse and the Ferrari horse, the oldest team of the F1. Charles Leclerc is the other Ferrari pilot and does not go back to a challenge, even a teammate. The two may or may not work well together, but Ferrari as a team expects to win the builder championship in 2025 after appearing only 14 points in 2024.

Max Verstappen, the current world champion (currently in four championships in a row), has a new teammate who led only 11 races so far in his career (five in 2023 and six in 2024) that should be an interesting rivalry to continue. Verstappen has won an amazing 30% of the races in which he has been and shows no signs of decelerating, but everyone else hopes to break down their numbers next year.

The pilots of McLaren, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, only in the sport for six and two years, respectively, took the team to the builder championship in 2024, breaking the Domain of Red Bull Racing of the previous three years. It was the first championship that McLaren won since 1998 and none of the pilots that helped them get there was still born. Both return in the colors of Papaya Orange de McLaren and each of them has their eyes on the driver championship this year.

George Russell settled as Mercedes’s main driver, now overcoming former teammate Lewis Hamilton in qualification and points. In 2025, he will be paired with the rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli, 18, who has not yet competed in the F1, but has the future hopes that Mercedes will rest on his shoulders.

In summary, the four best teams in F1 last year have great hope that the team can be at the top, since 2025 comes to an end, and it seems that any of them has a true possibility of achieving that.

3. The races are more exciting when it is close and the passes occur on the track instead of in the lane. The passage of the track has increased in recent history in F1 and last year saw those highest passes in the order while drivers fought for leadership on the track repeatedly. Many times in the past, who led after the first round would go to a victory for 20 seconds or more. In 2024, the three main controllers often separated for five seconds or less.

In the show prior to the race, the experts of F1 who generally talked about how the track conditions adapted to a particular team began to throw their hands in 2024, since the only predictable thing was unpredictability. Even when they thought they knew the two pilots who could be in the Pole position in Pole, the competition would generally shoot six pilots who had a legitimate shot.

4. This may sound a bit fun as an argument to see F1 in 2025, but another US team will join the network from 2026 as General Motors reached an agreement to obtain brand cars Cadillac in the competition. It will be a strange view to have Cadillac cars with Ferrari engines, but that will change soon with an objective date of 2030 for a complete “works” Team, which means that Cadillac and GM would be building each component of their car as Ferrari does with their team.

Although there are currently zero American pilots in F1, this will be the second team based in the United States that will compete with the first HAAS that began with F1 in 2014. With three races in the United States (Miami, Austin and Las Vegas) in the calendar , F1 has increased in popularity in the United States. Many of those who attend the race are people from other countries, making a trip to the United States while they follow their F1 Fandom, but slowly the sport is doing ground in Nascar and Indycar.

If you start seeing F1 in 2025, then you will be ready to encourage Cadillac and Haas while striving to become winners of the race along with the famous car manufacturers throughout the history of F1. Maybe an American talent also increases through the ranks and we will see a new American driver sooner rather than later. Anyway, now is the time to get involved in sport to prepare for future patriotic emotion.

There was surprising competition during the 2024 season in F1 and, again, all the signs point to that continuing in 2025. I am excited to write about the potential of the next season in F1 and beyond with the changes in the rule in 2026 potentially altering everything Once again again. I think this is a good time to be a F1 fan and encourage everyone to try it this year. The races begin on March 16.
