Populist Romanian politician Calin Georgescu is questioned by prosecutors

Bucharest, Romania (AP)-a populist of the extreme right who won the first round in Romania’s canceled presidential race last year was arrested in traffic by the police on Wednesday and scared by prosecutors, said his communication team.

“Calin Georgescu was about to present his new candidacy for the presidency,” his team said on a Facebook post. “He was welcomed to interrogate him in the Office of the Attorney General.”

It is not yet clear why prosecutors have led Georgescu, 62, to question, or if he will be accused of something. There are no details available immediately.
