Governor Henry McMaster suspends the Councilor for N. Charleston accused of bribery, cable fraud

Charleston, SC (WCIV) – A councilor from the city of North Charleston is accused of conspiring to commit bribes and fraud of honest services services.

According to prosecutors who handle the case, Michael A. Brown represents District one, according to reports, according to the accusation documents, they accepted bribes in exchange for their support and influence.

Prosecutors say that two other members of the Council, Jerome Heyward and Sandino Moses already agreed to declare themselves guilty and renounce their positions in the Council.

Brown, who has chosen not to give up his accusation, will appear before court next month. As he did not resign from his position chosen as councilor of District 1, on Wednesday night, Governor Henry McMaster announced an executive order that suspended Michael Brown from his duties until he is acquitted, convicted or a replacement has been chosen.
