Champions Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli Broadly trains against the spiny before the New Zealand clash

The Indian Cricket team had a strenuous training session on Wednesday with the Talismán Virat Kohli batter spending a lot of time facing the spinners, even when the bowling coach Morne Morkel joined the team after attending a personal emergency at home.

Virat not only faced people like Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jaada during the training session, but also spent more than half an hour doing bowling players ahead of the clash against New Zealand on Sunday.

The unconditional of rhythm bowling, Mohammed Shami, also saw Bowling in full inclination, swinging the ball in both directions and rapping Kohli twice on his pads, while Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh also seemed determined to give the best of the best during the session.

Shubman Gill, who has been the prominent batter of India in the tournament, was the only one who did not appear in practice.

The BCCI media manager said there was no need to worry about Gill. Rishabh Pant has recovered from a disease and has trained Wednesday with the rest of the team.

India enjoyed a couple of days off after overcoming Pakistan in her second group game. They have already reached the semifinals of the group A with New Zealand. Both teams will meet in their last group match here on March 2.

India, who won the Champions Trophy for the last time in 2013, are favorites to raise the title taking into account their combination of rotation squad and the way they have played so far in the tournament.

India plays all its games in Dubai, where the launch has been slow and has helped the spinning spins so far.

Taking into account the hybrid model of the tournament, India is the only side that is playing in one place and that has been questioned by the tastes of former England captain Michael Atherton, who sees it as an undeniable advantage for Rohit Sharma and Co.

While the hosts of the tournament are Pakistan, India will also play the final in Dubai if they qualify.
