A train station was evacuated after an electronic bicycle burst in flames in front of terrified passengers today.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: ‘The brigade was called to the reports of an Ebike fire on a platform at the Rayners Lane subway station.

‘An Ebike was completely destroyed by fire. Firefighters helped people evacuate the station to a safe place.

‘The brigade received its first call at 11.30. The fire was under control at 11.56.

“Three fire trucks and around 20 firefighters attended from the Harrow and Northolt Fire Stations.”

A transport spokesman for London said: ‘The incident led to a suspension of services for a short time in the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, but that has now risen and both lines are now working with severe delays.
