Special Prosecutor requested in the case of child negligence against Town Marshal

Dubois Co., Ind. (WFIE) – The Marshal of the city of Gentryville and his wife face positions of child negligence.

Alfred and Katherine Braunecker, who live in Huntingburg, were accused at the end of last month.

According to the affidavit of the Indiana State Police, the two children of the couple have lost around 27 days so far this year of schools.

The soldiers say that it is despite several school administrators and bus transport that they offer to collect them.

They say that school officials told them that young children are so behind that the retention will be necessary.

The soldiers say that Katherine has also forged several medical notes in an attempt to excuse some of the absences.

They say that an excuse was the heart attack of a family member, which turned out to be a lie.

The soldiers say DCS interviewed Alfred and Katherine about absenteeism problems in October, but the children continued to lose.

The State Police says that in addition to the negligence positions that both Brauneckers face, Katherine is accused of nine positions of falsification.

None of Braunecker was imprisoned.

On Wednesday, Dubois County Prosecutor requested a special prosecutor for the case.

One has not yet been named.

We have communicated with officials in Spencer County to discover the status of the employment of Marshal Braunecker.
