Mumbai: A lawyer based in Mumbai, Ashish Rai, presented a petition before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday, urging the commission to intervene in the alleged case of Violation of Pune. RAI has highlighted the concerns about women’s safety and requested an independent investigation to ensure that no mischief will occur.

The petition also requires NHRC to seek detailed information on the case of the director of the director of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), since the alleged crime took place on an MSRTC bus.

According to police reports, the victim, a 26 -year -old woman, was waiting for a bus to Phaltan at the Swargate bus station around 5:45 am on Tuesday. The defendant, identified as Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, 36, approached her, falsely stating that the bus for Satara was on a different platform.

Then he led her to an empty Achiv Shahi AC bus to other places at the station. Initially doubting to board the vehicle off, the woman was convinced by the accused that it was the right bus. Once inside, Gade followed her, supposedly assaulted her and raped her before fleeing the scene.

In his plea, Rai emphasized the importance of NHRC’s participation to guarantee transparent and impartial investigation. The authorities continue their investigation, and NHRC is expected to review the petition before deciding on additional measures.
