Miertial declared in the case of assault by Daniel Palomo Jr.

Laredo, Tex. (KGNS) – A null trial was declared in the Daniel Palomo Jr. assault judgment After the jury members could not agree on a verdict on Friday, February 28.

The jury spent almost nine hours for two days trying to make a decision. A jury refused to change their minds, which led to a dead point. In the early afternoon, they were still divided. Defense lawyer Javier Montemayor then confirmed the null trial.

Palomo was accused of hitting a man several times at a service station on October 3, 2018. The trial lasted three days, with the alleged victim and two police officers who testified. Prosecutors said Palomo never informed the incident to the police, while the defense argued that he acted in self -defense.

Palomo faced up to 20 years in prison if he declares himself guilty. It is not clear if prosecutors will try again.
