The tension seized the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan for reports of alleged blackmailes and conversion of schoolgirls. The security in the city was reinforced while the merchants called a Bandh to protest against the incident. Several organizations called a Bandh to protest against the alleged blackmail and conversion of schoolgirls. The city markets carried a desert appearance when the merchants closed their stores and took to the streets in protest, according to NDTV.

The main markets of the city, commercial establishments, shopping centers, gasoline bombs and public transport services were also affected during the Bandh.

The international market at the Khwaja Garib Nawaz Dargah in Ajmer was also completely closed. The members of the Dargah Khadim community condemned the law and demanded a strict action against the culprits.

The representatives of the Khadim community said they were satisfied with the actions taken by the police and emphasized the need for severe punishments for criminals.

Police personnel have been deployed in large quantities to maintain the law and order. The police remained especially vigilant in the Dargah market and its surroundings to avoid adverse incidents.

NHRC members visit Ajmer

The member of the National Human Rights Commission, Priyank Kanoongo, arrived in Ajmer, Rajasthan, on Sunday in the middle of alleged blackmail and conversion of schoolgirls.

Anjali Sharma, president of the Child Welfare Committee, Ajmer said the Committee met with NHRC representatives and children were advised.

“In the case of Bijaynagar, we met with the NHRC representatives who visited today. The children were already advised, but another round of discussions occurred, “he said while talking to journalists.

“We have written to the SDM to obtain immediate assistance from RS 20,000 and we request that girls be admitted in a good shelter after tenth grade. These were the key issues discussed,” he added.

Kanoongo said the NHRC members met with the victimized children and added that they needed to receive compensation.

“The compensation process had not begun so far. When we asked with the administration, they announced compensation of RS 20,000 in our presence,” he said.

“The defendant, who are being claimed as minors, will be judged as adults, and the district administration will proceed under section 15 of the Youth Justice Law. This case implies a complete preparation gang that operates in an organized manner, aimed at girls from a community for sexual abuse,” he added.
