Boyfriend arrested after Mom de Dos found in the New Jersey forest stuffed in abandoned refrigerator

A man of New Jersey accused of killing his girlfriend and putting his body in a refrigerator, who then threw in a forest, was arrested after setting fire in California.

The San Diego Police was alerted to a fire in Ocean Beach in the early hours of January 13, and when they arrived they found two men kicking sand on the flames and trying to hide bottles of alcohol, NBC San Diego reports.

Subsequently, one of the men was arrested for drug charges, while the other gave the officers a false identity and was arrested.

He was later identified as Christopher Blevins, 45, of New Jersey, who was accused of the murder of Laura Hughes, 50, a mother of two, only 10 days before.

Police states that Blevins killed Hughes and threw his body in the Belleplain state forest in Cape May on July 24, then fled through the southern border to Mexico in Brownsville, Texas, on August 2.

It was supposedly recorded crossing Mexico in the same Dodge Ram Verde that had been seen previously transporting a ‘refrigerator -shaped object’.

While he was in Mexico, Blevins supposedly surrendered to the police in Mexico City on August 27, claiming that “he panicked” and fled after a “violent incident” in Runnemede, New Jersey, where he lived.

Then he said he could have “killed someone in a bar fight.”

But the Mexican authorities did not stop him because there were no criminal charges in the United States at that time, According to NJ Advance Media.

Blevins finally returned to the United States in September and stayed in Delaware until the end of December, when the remains of his girlfriend were finally found by a passerby.

Hughes’ body was wrapped in a sleeping bag, tied with blue trill and carpet straps, along with a green yoga carpet, prosecutors say.

A subsequent search for Blevins apartment discovered blue belts, a gun and another evidence that links it to the spill of Hughes body.

At that time, New Jersey State Police accused Blevins of disturbing and desecious human remains and hindered the apprehension.

Then, on January 3, prosecutors also presented first -degree murder charges against them.

When Blevins was arrested in San Diego days later, he allegedly told researchers that he strangled Hughes until death inside his department.

The court documents indicated that the couple had a history of domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse.

“This case is a powerful reminder that no challenge is too large when the agencies come together with a shared mission of defending victims and their families, ensuring that their voices never forget.”
